Points are simply an added up score of what you do around here.

You get points:

When you post a thread
When you post in threads
exc.

Other people get points when:

when you give other members reps


There isn't anything you can use the points for at this time.

Actually you do, you get 1+ points for positive reps and -1 points for negative reps.
(the person you rep, gets the rep)
