Earth Day?
Five years ago, I moved to Manitoba from Alberta. At the end of my street there was this beautiful pond type thing with a gravel sidewalk. There was mice, groundhogs, bunnies, turtles, frogs, dragonflies, ducks, and seagles all living there! A few years later they paved the gravel sidewalk over and all of the mice, groundhogs, and bunnies dissapeared! Then again, a few weeks ago they started construction next to the pond! Today (witch is Earth Day) I saw then draining out the pond!!! All of those animals are going to die! My sister and I used to go there and listen to the frogs and take pictures of the turtles. As I was walking home from school I saw the pond and all that was left was practically a puddle! I almost cryed! How could they do this to all of those poor animals? They didn't do anything to those mean people!
Anyways happy Earth Day!

Awww, that's so sad! And to think that they would do it on Earth Day! I feel bad for those animals.

Re: Earth Day?
Poor animals you should have protested (not like strike tie kinda thing but go you can't do that plants and animals will die)
Re: Earth Day?
I wonder what they're building. Nothing could be good enough to take away the homes of poor little animals, though.
I like Maggalina's idea of a protest. Maybe you could hand out "Save the Pond" fliers at school and put a date on them for a protest.

Aw, that's so sad! I love bunnies and turtles. They're two of my favorite animals! I can't believe they did that on Earth Day too! This sort of reminds me of my old home. When I was really, really little there used to be this pond right across from our house. It got all polluted though, and turned into a sort of swamp. Some people drained it out and put dirt and grass over it when I was about six or seven years old... Then a BEAUTIFUL meadow started growing (when I was about eight or nine) there. There were A LOT of butterflies and bunnies. But then some people thought it was getting "overgrown" (although it really wasn't), so they tore it all up and planted some trees instead. There are no fish and turtles that used to swim in the pond. There are no bunnies that used to hop and butterflies that used flutter in the meadow. There are now just geese that eat the grass and a few small trees...
I agree that it would have been nice to make some posters telling people to save the pond. It's so sad to see all the homes of animals being destroyed!

Re: Earth Day?
Awww. That story is sad too. My town has a program that protects parks and ponds and all that stuff, so that isn't a problem for where I live.
